Random Drawings (vol. 1)
This collection gathers a handful of drawings that surfaced easily from the archives, each interesting enough to share in its own right.
First, there are two geometric ink drawings I sometimes describe as geometric jewelry. These emerged from notebook pages, using a pen and a versatile drafting stencil packed with various circles, triangles, hexagons, and other intriguing shapes. I arranged and nested these forms into intricate horizontal bands, building layers until each piece felt complete. The first drawing, set against a white background, presents nine of these detailed bands stacked vertically. The second, on black, digitally combines three of the most elaborate bands into a continuous horizontal composition. I remain quite fond of these; they’re from around 2018.
Next is a pencil drawing originally labeled “Owl Fresh Ground Pepper,” a piece that channels a bit of Möbius-inspired whimsy. It depicts a biomechanical creature with owl-like features, intricately filled with detailed machinery and gadgets, and apparently holding something resembling a pepper grinder—hence the name.
Also included is the “All Things Diagram,” an ambitious visualization of certain philosophical concepts I’ve explored. Though meticulously logical to me, I’m fully aware it likely appears esoteric—or outright cryptic—to an outside viewer.
Finally, three colorful illustrations from early 2020 round out this selection, my standard pen doodles brought vividly to life with alcohol markers I’d just acquired at the time.
- Venusian Walkman (Jan 15–16, 2020): A typical hyper-detailed affair
- Moon Hive Signage: Exactly as described—a lunar hive structure suspended like signage, floating calmly above a patch of tranquil grass.
- Egyptian Hairdryer: Perhaps the most surreal of the group, depicting an alien figure reclining beneath a large, vintage salon-style hairdryer. Its exaggerated head features a design reminiscent of the Eye of Ra, and its teeth bear a strange resemblance to Maurice Sendak-style smiley faces.
More drawings will undoubtedly appear in future uploads, but these seven felt right for today.
